What to do in Birmingham?
About Birmingham
Birmingham, which is located in the West Midlands, is the second biggest city in Great Britain. In fact, the city’s vast population is second only to that of the capital.
Much of city centre Birmingham was ruined during world war two, and ugly replacement structures were hastily erected. However, since the 90s, Birmingham has been undergoing many significant changes and a number of the post war structures have been replaced. Indeed, Birmingham now boasts some great architecture, which includes the Bullring shopping mall. The Bullring was constructed at a cost of £500 million by Benoy and is a pretty, futuristic building. In addition to this, much of the city centre is now pedestrianised, and the canals have also been cleaned up to make them more attractive.
Birmingham is a modern, buzzing and cosmopolitan city. With vibrant nightlife, exciting hotels, fantastic shops and unique tourist attractions, it’s a fantastic place to visit for a weekend break or short holiday.
Museums and Galleries
One of the best things about Birmingham has to be its great museums, galleries & attractions that are lively & insightful for all the family. One of the best is Dudley Zoo, which is in the grounds of Dudley Castle & boasts some great animals that live in 40 acres of stunning gardens.
Some of our other favourite places include the Birchills Canal Museum, West Midlands Safari Park & Selly Manor.
Shopping
Birmingham boasts a busy city centre that is packed with top high-street shops, so it’s a fantastic location for shopping lovers to visit. However, serious shoppers might rather visit the city’s Bullring shopping centre. In fact, the Bullring is massive & boasts 160 shops, which includes some fantastic names including Ann Summers, Samsonite & Schuh. It also boasts a massive Selfridges shop & more than 25 restaurants, so you can really spend the whole day there.
Nightclubs, Bars and Restaurants
If you’re staying for a short break or short holiday in Brum, you should make sure you taste the city’s exciting nightlife. In fact, the city has rustic pubs, elite cocktail bars & some fabulous night clubs, so you’ll be spoilt for choice.
For fans of alternative or indie music, there are numerous venues to watch live music in the city such as the Brum Academy. In addition to this, you’ll also find that there are numerous alternative bars & nightclubs too, so you’ll have a great time.
