Now you may know how important it is to have good looking, professional and attractive auction listing but he problem is that graphic designers aren`t cheap these days. A custom made listing can cost up to 2000$! Thats a lot of money, especially for people who just starting out.
But here`s the secret! You don`t have to pay 2000$ for a template.
In fact by just improving some of your auction design aspects you can achieve incredible results without spending a dime!

What`s the first thing that visitor notices when he receives your listing title in his search or category results?
It`s loading time or put it simply : how fast your design elements(text, audio and video)appears.If you have well optimized design your visitor won`t notice loading time as it load fast. How fast is fast? 1-5 seconds should be all it takes.
If your listing loads fully after 15 or 20 seconds you`r losing big time!
There is several reasons why listing could load slowly.
* Your visitor is using dial-up(if your listing is well optimised it will load relatively fast even on dial-up)
* Images are too big in size or have been saved on slow remote server(also you should use the write picture format like jpg)
* Flash elements(I wouldn` suggest you using them as it distracts visitors from more important elements like description, images, audio and video)
* Videos and audios are great, just make sure you optimise them as it can slow the loading time
If you followed these guidelines than your auction listing should load fast and visitor will not notice any delays.
Once visitor lands on your listing it`s time to prove to him that he should stay. Yes, I said Prove!
Because it`s your job to convert your visitor into the buyer. Do not expect them to look for something if it isn`t there and don`t make them feel stressed about anything.

Now before you learn how your listing should look you should know your target audience. This is another common mistake made by the majority of eBay sellers. If you sell pop artist posters don`t create a cooperate look and feel.This will instantly turn off lots of leads simply because they won`t feel related to you in any way.
On another hand, if you sell industrial machines you shouldn`t use eBay template called “Spring Flowers”.It makes sense that people want to do business with similar minded people. They want to be sure you understand them and that you know their problems and can offer solution to them. Be as close to your target audience as you can even if it`s only your design!
