There are some areas that won’t offer you the stones you desire that will give you the look you are going for. Believe it or not, there are parts of the world in which stone is considered a novelty! If you live in an area where building things from stone is not common, you can have them shipped to you, but because of its weight, the shipping costs involved in this are usually expensive. If at all possible, consider using stone in your local area (if applicable). This could end up saving you a large sum of money.
Make sure you check your local building codes before attempting to build a fireplace entirely from stone. Read through all of the regulations that surround this type of design installation. Outdoor fireplaces usually enjoy more leniency than indoor fireplaces, but make sure you do your research before committing to your project. This will keep you on the right track.
