When you buy a property, whether it is a flat, bungalow, house or a mansion, it is likely to be the biggest investment that you will make. Also worth worrying about is the amount of cover for items that are in your dwelling. High value items can need to be identified and separately covered, but some policies (eg Hiscox) have better terms for those people with higher value contents needs.
Sometimes an insurance company will replace lost/damaged/stolen items like for like (so old items are not worth as much as if they were new) whereas some offer to replace new for old.
