Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent, more popularly known as Yves Saint Laurent, has long been one of the icons in the fashion industry. The French designer was born in Algeria but moved to Paris right after secondary school to chase his dream of establishing a career in fashion. His efforts soon paid off for at the very early age of 17, he landed the job of assistant to Christian Dior himself. The unfortunate death of Dior four years later opened doors for Saint Laurent because he was named the head of the empire Dior left behind. With much experience to his name, Saint Laurent started his own fashion empire in 1962.

Yves Saint Laurent is revered as one of the most influential and prominent designers ever. In fact, he was actually the one who popularized the use of trousers for women at a time when trousers were deemed for just men.

Enter the 60s, and Yves Saint Laurent introduced the use of both transparent and metallic fabrics in his very own collection. Because of this, Saint Laurent was strongly associated with what was and is still known as the Swinging Sixties look. His see-through blouses became the in-thing all over the world at the time. In the 70s, Saint Laurent took his cue from ethnic costumes and introduced what is known as the haute peasant look. This look included safari jackets for both men and women.

But if there is one major contribution on the runway that Saint Laurent has to his name, it is the fact that he was the very first designer to have black models participate in shows on the runway. He also designed clothes for a lot of huge names in the industry, such as Loulou de la Falaise, Betty Catroux, Talitha Pol-Getty, Catherine Deneuve, and Katoucha Niane.

Aside from the iconic clothes Saint Laurent designed, he also has a number of fragrances to his belt. These include Y released in 1964, Rive Gauche in 1971, Opium in 1978, Paris in 1983, Champagne in 1993, which was renamed Yvresse in 1996, Opium for Men in 1996, Baby Doll in 1999, and Nu in 2001.

Female Model Know Your Comfort Zone

Female Model – Know Your Comfort Zone

Comfort zone is a very important factor for both male and female model. It is the set of behavioral patterns that people exhibit without any feelings of uneasiness. Though comparable to male it is very important for a female model to develop a personality that allows her to be comfortable having no problems in exposing her body to a variety of people. It is the fact that posing in barely clad lingerie is not something the average people can handle it. It requires guts and strong mentality otherwise if it would have been so easy then everyone including me would have gone to pose for it and make a good earning.

As we are comfortable when we are in a familiar environment unless challenged similarly models too relax in their comfort zones that is more communicative because of the exhibitive nature of their work. It is expected from a model to pose in the comfort zone because it looks natural. Models create their own comfort zones in clothing, facial expressions, body language and appealing look because anything new and different from usual creates anxiety that is shown on the face. If your instinct keeps knocking you and signaling you about your capability what will you do? Will you attempt it or will you quit, if it is beyond your reach? Doing anything beyond your reach is dangerous and the anxiety that develops within you gets clearly reflected on your face. Such is the case with the models which is disadvantageous for the model, photographer and even the ad agency.

Sometimes comfort zones are created around the acceptance or approvals from others. If you believe in this then it might hamper your career in the future. You need to choose any one- either your career or others approval. Waiting for approvals can make you become apathetic and the result gets displayed on your photo. Models that stay within their defined comfort zones do not have anything to lose or to blame any one. They are the master of their own fate and feels satisfy in their own comfort zones.

It is also very important to know when and how to step out from your comfort zones. Identify your goal you want to achieve and then adapt new and different behavior patterns to reach the goal. But remember the enticement of achieving something good could be just the impetus needed to make the change but never make a mistake to make a gigantic leap. First test the water otherwise there are chances of drowning. Try yourself with few, say one and two new and different behaviors and experience how they feel. Check to see if your comfort zone can be redefined to include those new changes that you considered impossible in your life.

What Is The Best Tourmaline Hair Dryer

What Is The Best Tourmaline Hair Dryer?

If you’re going to buy a hair dryer make sure it’s tourmaline. Negative ions are extremely important as they help to close the cuticle of the hair shaft and lock in moisture thereby reducing drying time and giving your hair a shinier, healthy look that lasts longer. Tourmaline emits 6 times more negative ions than does ceramic. If you’re unsure about which model to buy, here are some recommendations of the best on offer.

Seriously, if you want fabulous looking hair you need a blow dryer that coats your hair in negative ions. Conventional models just heat up air using a metal coil and then just blow it out the nozzle. Problem is, these appliances produce positive ions that unlock the cuticles, which in turn leads to dull, dry, frizzy hair leaving you with that ‘just been blow dried’ look.

Thankfully, technical advances have led to ones that were first ‘ionic’ - they emitted good negative ions, next came ceramic heating plates - to help emit more (and concentrate) the negative ions, and now finally we have dryers that have crushed tourmaline jewels that have been infused (coated) onto the ceramic parts. So, if you’re looking to buy a new one to replace your old model, you should definitely been looking for a tourmaline model.

Here’s a run down on some of the best that are currently available.

Cheap But Good

If you’re limited on budget don’t despair; the good news is that there are plenty of excellent low-cost models.

Andis are an American company who still design and manufacture its styling tool in the U.S. The Andis 80285 Tourmaline Ionic is great value, costing as little as $30. But, don’t think you won’t be getting a good product for this little money. It comes with a powerful 1875 watt motor - most professional styling tools comes with 1800 watts - and you also get a cool shot button for locking in curls. And, unlike some other more expensive models, it also includes a professional concentrator and styling pick.

If your budget can stretch to $50 dollars, then take a look at the Conair Infiniti Nano Silver Tourmaline Dryer. Again, you get a powerful 1875 watt motor, 3 heat and 2 speed settings with a cool shot button. It also comes with a very versatile concentrator and a tourmaline coated straightening pick.

Mid-priced But Of Professional Quality

BaByliss offer an extensive range of blow dryers from mid to expensive. The BaByliss PRO TT (Carrera 2) Tourmaline 3000 Dryer not only looks stylish it styles very well too. The motor is 1900 watts but the whole unit only weighs 1.26lbs making it extremely lightweight and easy to use. You get 6 speed and heat setting and cool shot button but its biggest selling pint has to be the 50 month warranty that comes with it.

The BEST Money Can Buy

This is very subjective but generally, the more you pay the better hair styler you get. Brands like CHI, Solano and the T3 Tourmaline hair dryer all retail from anywhere between $130 and $200. It’s a lot of money but you can be certain that you’ll be buying one that is used by professional stylists.

There’s no such thing as the best tourmaline hair dryer; rather the best is the one that you feel comfortable using, that you bought at a price you were comfortable with and, most importantly, makes you hair look and feel beautiful. My personal favorite is the T3 Tourmaline Featherweight hair dryer; it just delivers perfect results time after time.

Love at First Sight My First Pair of Cowboy Boots

Love at First Sight: My First Pair of Cowboy Boots

I bought my first pair of cowboys boots simply because they were in fashion that year. I went to the mall and picked out a standard black pair because I knew they would match anything. I didn’t yet understand the value of a really good pair of cowboy boots, so it’s probably a good thing that I didn’t spend a lot of money on my first pair. Even though the ones I bought were fairly cheap, I did enjoy the way they molded to my feet after a few weeks, and I fell in love with the way they looked as well. When it came time to retire them, I decided I wanted to try a really good pair from a well-known maker of western apparel.

I began searching for western wear outlets near my home, and I also went online to find some deals on western apparel. I was very impressed. I had no idea that there were so many makers of cowboy boots, in so many different styles. Considering that a really great pair of boots costs about $200 or more, I decided that I needed to be particular about the brand I bought, so I went to the local western wear outlet to spend an afternoon trying on different ones. I tried on about boots from about ten different makers until I found the holy grail of boot makers - Ariat. They fit perfectly, and I mean perfectly. It was as if someone took a mold of my feet and custom made the boots of my dreams.

After I found the size that fit, it was simply a matter of choosing the style I wanted. For this, I went back online to the western apparel website I’d found earlier. They had a much larger selection than the store near my house, and they were about $50 cheaper as well. This cut in price meant I had enough money in my budget to splurge on a fancier design, if I wanted it, and I had so much fun picking out the pair to order. There are so many! Finally, it came down to a black pair with white stitching, a beige pair with light blue trim, or a classic black pair. I ended up choosing the beige pair, as they matched pretty much everything I wear, and I loved the detailed stitching.

Fast forward six months, and I am still absolutely thrilled with my choice. Like the first pair I ever bought, they only got more comfortable the longer I wore them, but these Ariats take comfort to a whole new level. For once, I broke in a pair of shoes, instead of a pair of shoes breaking me in. I thought they fit perfectly to begin with, but they continued to get better and better with time. They look and feel fantastic. I get compliments every time I wear them, and at least three of my friends have gone to the western wear website I bought mine from, with the same satisfying results. Another friend of mine told me that with good care they can last ten years or longer, so I really do consider this one of the best investments I could have made. If the old adage “you get what you pay for” is true, then I must have cheated someone, because I would have gladly paid twice as much for these awesome boots. If you’re looking for comfortable shoes, you’ve just got to get some classic cowboy boots to complete your wardrobe. It’s worth every penny.

What Exactly is Pewter in Pewter Belt Buckles

What Exactly is Pewter in Pewter Belt Buckles

Pewter is an alloy of antimony, copper and tin, with the greatest component being tin. Today, pewter is composed of at least 91% tin with small amounts of antimony and/or bismuth and copper added to give it strength and color. Old pewter and lower grades of pewter contain lead and are susceptible to rust and tarnish. These pieces, containing lead, should not come in contact with food or drink. Lead poisoning death could result.

Pewter is considered to be the world’s fourth most precious metal after platinum, gold and silver. It dates back to Roman days and was only affordable by the rich and wealthy of the day. Its prized value is determined by its beauty and unique characteristics. Being lead-free, modern pewter is resistant to rust, tarnish or deterioration in any way, allowing it to withstand time while maintaining its distinctive appearance and substance. These qualities make it specially appreciated and highly collectible.

The word “pewter” is probably a variation of the word “spelter.” This became “peautre” in French, as well as many other languages. Today, pewter is mainly used in decorative objects, namely collectible statuettes and figurines, replica coins, pendants and accessories.

Modern-day pewter that is made in the United States does not contain lead and, therefore, does not tarnish. Unlike silver, pewter does not require special care or regular polishing. Simply keeping it clean is all that is really required. Pewter does, however, have a tendency to oxidize over a long time, giving it an antique look with its grayish color or “patina”. And it is this patina that may eventually enhance the value of this highly collectible and beautiful metal.
