What is Spyware and Adware

What is Spyware and Adware?

Halfway working through using your computer you found that your machine is giving you a very sudden slow performance. It does not indicate you early enough but by the time you know it, your system is already as slow as s tortoise with something running secretly in the background.

If you still insist that you are not noticing anything weird happening to your system, then you will soon see a pile of pop up advertisements whenever you open a new page in your browser. Colleagues start to hint you with the possibility of spyware attacks on your system, and hurry you to try the latest anti spyware programs.

It sounded so familiar. Spywares are usually programs that are installed in a system without the acknowledgement of the user. Usually spread while the user is installing freeware or shareware, which are often downloaded free from the net. Other ways of spreading also includes fooling the users to install the spyware instead of the software they wanted to install at first.

Many spywares actually logs user information such as webpage they visited, or the types of webpage they usually visit. Advertisements are then sent to the user’s computer, appearing as pop ups that annoys users whenever they click their intended page. Clicking on the pop up windows might just bring them to more spyware infested sites.

Spywares causes the computer to slow down drastically. It takes up resources without the knowledge of the user, running on the background, sending and retrieving data between the user’s computer and the company that sent out the spyware to log user’s information. Low in memory, slow processor speeds, and also a decrease in network traffic is what expected to be happening in a spyware hit computer.

To avoid getting spywares is easy. Rely only on trusted freewares from re known companies. Never try to click on a pop up advertisement. If a suspected ware is running in your computer, use a spyware detector such as Spybot Search and Destroy to find out the culprit.

Your Privacy In The Cyber World How To Protect It

Your Privacy In The Cyber World – How To Protect It?

The Internet – a huge collection of computers, connected to share information within each other. That means it is a network of terminals where each of them resembles a portal for a user to connect to this vast community of information sharing, commercial trading, entertainment, and much more.

While you are so obsessed with your involvement in the internet busy sharing data between each portal, the unexpected arise – you found that your PayPal account has a less amount that you used to have, your usual private email was accessed by someone else opening all your unread emails, worse come to worst your kinky picture of you with your girlfriend started to show up in online forums.

This all relates to your personal stuffs you are trying to keep from the public in the internet. Stuffs that you will only hope to let you or a very small or particular group of people to know. Yet, hackers either by monetary benefit or just plain old fun are still out there to try to prove that the virtual security is still breakable, easily.

So how can we protect our personal information from leaking into the virtual public? The answer is – not easy. An example is, for every click or keyboard entry, there is a chance that your input to the webpage is logged by a keyboard logger, for every freeware or shareware you’ve downloaded, there is a chance to have the keyboard logger installed secretly to your computer. True to us that this is a common tactic used by hackers around, but small precautions from us will avoid getting more information leaked around.

Websites collect information when a user visits them via cookies. This information stays in your hard drive to allow stored data if you have downloaded anything large in size, the cookies will be used to provide faster page opening time. Filling an online payment form will also trigger the cookies to keep a copy of what you’ve typed. So with your credit card information and home address easily accessible by hackers, you can stop it by just disabling cookies in your web browser, or even let it run as a Read Only file, so that they can’t get hold of any personal information.

Also be aware of what queries you have encountered in the net. Emails from people whom you do not know is better to be left in the SPAM box or trash box. Sometimes they might be trying to lure you in with catchy labels and kept asking you for your details – Don’t reply to them. This also happens to unknown contacts popping from MSN Messenger trying to ask you out for a dinner whom you assume it’s a hot date, but coming to the end when you sensed that it is weird for asking your credit card number and your actual name to make a reservation for a table, you’d better not giving it to someone whom you know barely for 15 minutes!

Spyware Removal Movies Can Train You A Lot

Spyware Removal Movies Can Train You A Lot

There is no doubt that the Internet is a great place but unfortunately there is a lot of dirt in addition to the greatness. One of the dirtiest aspects of the Internet is malware i.e. all sorts of pests like viruses, worms, adware, spyware, etc. Malware can make your life pretty hard because they can clutter and damage your system. As with many things in life, it is much easier to avoid infection than to deal with the consequences. If you are an inexperienced user, things can get even more complicated. But fortunately, there are many helpful resources and spyware and virus removal movies are one of them.

For many people adware and spyware are the personification of evil on the Net. Do you wonder why? Because adware and spyware are malicious and they diligently pick up all the things you do online and report their findings to third parties. This is pretty mean, right? You are the target and you dont have even the vaguest idea who is shooting at you. But you can safe yourself from becoming a victim. All it takes is that you take the right anti-malware precautions. However, the time to take precautions is before you get infected; if you are already infected, there is nothing else you can do, but clean the mess.

Spyware and virus removal movies can help you a lot in this uneasy task. If you dont know exactly how to clean the pests, dont worry many people are in a similar position. Even if we have the tools we need, we dont know how to use them to remove spyware and viruses. People are busy and they usually dont have the time to read lengthy instructions or Help sections and because of that they cant use the spyware and adware removal tools to the fullest. The result is that even though spyware and virus removal is not such a difficult task, many people just cant handle it properly.

It is true that most spyware and virus removal programs are easy and intuitive to use but if you want to get the most out of them, you need to read the documentation. Quite naturally, the majority of users dont do this because it is very time-consuming and that is why they end up with partial knowledge about the functionalities of the program and how to use them.

For many people calling the Customer Service department of the creators of the program is the fastest way to solve a problem. Sure, support guys and girls can help you but how often it takes half an hour or more to get in touch with a support rep? This is not very efficient, even if you dont count the devastating effect it has over your nervous system. If you have had your share of trouble with support staff, then you will certainly appreciate how empowering virus and spyware removal videos are. They describe the whole process in small, easy to follow steps and you can watch the video more than once, if you feel you need it. It is even more useful, when the demos are detailed and up to the point because then you get the main idea at once.

SNMP Traps How can they help fault manage your network

SNMP Traps: How can they help fault manage your network?

Any great network administrator will tell you that a successful management strategy includes not only proactive monitoring of the servers and network by use of a polling mechanism, but also a comprehensive fault management strategy, including the smart capturing of SNMP Traps. Advanced Fault Management products are now within reach for the average small and medium size businesses and their networks, with the inclusion of some hot new monitoring products, both windows and linux based. These monitoring systems can discriminate between the important and non-critical alarms, and notify the user when there is truly something worthy to look at. The rest is just noise, and good systems can easily filter that out.

What are SNMP traps? They are packets of information sent over the network by managed and unmanaged agents that have something to say. For example, an Oracle database administrator would be interested in hearing if the database was about to run out of disk space, or if there were an excessive number of authentication failures. These little bits of information provide timely updates about bad (or sometimes good), things happening to critical services and processes on the network.

So now you have your trap receiving system in place. Now what? How does this integrate with the rest of your processes? There is some setup involved, yet, once one spends some time getting used to the messages that arrive and doing some preliminary filtering and categorizing, the best systems actually start to “learn” from the user-choices. These learned behavior heuristics can be applied automatically by the system to find patterns and generalities in the data. Once these patterns are found, even more power is harnessed by the system as it can filter out unwanted information or become even more aware of critical information that may be hiding in the sea of messages being sent by hosts on the network.

The Conference of the Present

Posted on June 8th, 2008 in Computer Software by shopubbblog

The Conference of the Present

The 1990s have brought conferencing to another level. Audio video conferencing software has successfully replaced real meetings. Virtual conferences are less expensive than old- school meetings; they are faster and more productive. Virtual conferences use all means of communication, from telephony and the Internet to audio video conferencing software or file sharing and any combinations of these tools and equipments.

Throughout the years, many companies have tried to reach the ultimate goal of web video conferencing, to make meetings as realistic as possible, and today this goal has been reached. Through the use of web video conferencing software, everybody can see each other and hear each other, they can modify projects, share files and so on. Technical difficulties may appear at times, but these types of problems can be fixed more easily than flight delays, for example. Moreover, if the companies holding the meetings use a fourth generation web video conferencing software, then the success of the meeting is guaranteed.

Audio video conferencing software can be downloaded free of charge or it can be purchased. There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods, but paying for web video conferencing software is advisable. Free audio video conferencing software may only be applicable for small organizations or companies, because of its technical limitations and many of the free web video conferencing software products can only be used temporarily. Moreover, the features of free audio video conferencing software may not include file sharing, file search, chat and many other features that are crucial for a successful meeting.

Bandwidth usage is another important aspect of web video conferencing software. Good software must have as many features as possible while having a very low bandwidth usage. Although most audio video conferencing software have low CPU usage, many of them do not have all necessary features to hold a successful meeting and many more do not even have a built- in support for platform access through IP phones, mobiles, desktops, RIA web-interface or PSTN. Audio video conferencing software that enables IP phone, mobile, phone or web users to collaborate is more efficient and the results can be clearly seen. By using such advanced web video conferencing software, people can attend the conference whether they are at home, on the train, at the office and even on the beach.

Web video conferencing software can be used by big or small companies, by schools or colleges and even by normal people. Audio video conferencing software allows experts to talk from remote places, allows people on vacation to attend important meetings and allows people in general to deal with important aspects without having to go places. The features of the product, the CPU usage and the widgets for collaboration or vertical markets should be the most important aspects to look for when choosing conferencing software.

Free audio video conferencing software may be a starting point, but if quality is what you are looking for, then investing in conferencing software is the better solution. Depending on the specific needs of you company or school, you can choose different software, but complex software can solve problems you didn’t even know existed.
