10 Proven Ways To Increase Gas Mileage And Save Money On Gas

The message screams at us from every sign at every corner gas station-gasoline prices are at an all-time high and there’s no indication that relief is anywhere in site. In fact, many experts are saying it could get worse-much worse-and that’s sending masses of motorists scrambling for ways to cut down on gas consumption.

What are your options when there are so many different crackpot methods online? Just today we saw a television news station advising drivers to fill up their gas tanks in the morning when gas is cooler and more condensed, as a way of getting more for your money. Liquids do take up less volume when they are cold, but this advice is not going to make a massive difference to your gas bill.

This outdated advice may have been true once-we don’t know for sure-but we do know that today gas stations store fuel below ground in 30,000-gallon tanks. What this means is that the gas will remain at near a contsant temperature so that daily cycles will not cause it to expand or contract.

We’ve seen all sorts of other bad advice that’s outdated, ill-advised or just outright fraud. Claims that devises which bleed air into the carburetor can dramatically increase gas mileage turn out not to be true when put to the test under closely monitored conditions.

Face it-with a long-term gas crises looming ahead, there are plenty of governmental bodies and even private industries that have good reason to want to help you save on gas. So counting down, here are the top 10 tips that you can use to really help save money on gas and reduce consumption:

10. You should always have your tires inflated properly as per the manufacturer’s guidelines. Under inflated tires make the vehicle run less efficiently and waste gas. In fact, it can be estimated that for every 1lb of under inflation, you could be losing up to 5% of your gas mileage.

9. Don’t be an aggressive driver. Jackrabbit starts, tire screeching stops and speeding can lower your gas mileage by 5% on city streets and as much as 33% on highways. Try to look ahead and see where you may need to slow down or stop, this way you can take your foot off the pedal and allow the car to coast and slow naturally.

8. Avoid excessive idling. You waste a gallon of gas for every 15 minutes your car is left idling. Whenever possible, time your traveling to avoid lingering at traffic lights and reduce the amount of time you let your car warm up. If the weather is warm outside, the most effective way to get an engine up to temperature is actually just by driving. Idling is the worst thing you can do - you get zero miles to the gallon if your car is running but not moving!

7. Slow down. The faster you go, the less efficiently your vehicle uses gas. 55 is the most efficient mph on highways. Go above 60 and your fuel efficiency decreases rapidly.

6. Remove excess weight. If you’re used to driving around with your golf clubs and a chain saw in your trunk, you’re paying a heavy price for it. Removing an extra 100 pounds from your car will increase your fuel efficiency by as much as 2%.

LTI Calls Over A Diamond Anniversary

May 29, 2008 underscored the 60th anniversary of London taxi for its successful taxi manufacturing for six decades now. The celebration began yesterday at the Private Hire and Taxi exhibition, held at The Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

According to reports, the well-experienced company has obtained an enormous deal since 1948, since the time when the very-first London taxi has gone to the Coventry plant. Other LTI highlights during that time include the creation of the Frisbee and the launching of the World Health Organisation by the United Nations. After that period, the automotive firm has distinguished over 100,000 taxis roll off the production line which includes the FX, Fairway and TX series. The group had a good time in front of presentation guests alongside the media with the traditional cutting of a personally baked cake to commemorate the remarkable occasion.

These vehicles can be spotted operating on the streets of London at present, in several towns and cities in Britain, and some can be seen around the world. Today’s talk of the town model from LTI is the TX4 taxi which is the most recent version of the legendary vehicle. The TX4 along with its great auto parts, has received vast positive response from its rising customer list.

LTI Vehicles is generally acknowledged for developing one of the world’s most legendary vehicles. The company is dedicated to constantly develop on their taxis to provide drivers and passengers a taxi service with stunning car parts that is highly desirable for others.

“As we celebrate this important milestone we are able to celebrate the past and look forward to the future. From the launch of the FX3 back in 1948 to the present day, LTI Vehicles has seen many changes in the development of its purpose-built taxis to meet the needs of the professional taxi driver,” says John Russell, CEO, Manganese Bronze Holdings PLC, LTI Vehicles’ parent company.

“This is an important year in the history of LTI Vehicles. The agreement with Chinese auto manufacturer Geely is progressing nicely with the finishing touches being applied to the facility near Shanghai. The development of electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles also shows our commitment to improve our environmental credentials and gain a competitive advantage in an expanding global marketplace. All this makes for an exciting future both at home and abroad.”

“We look forward to continuing this success to ensure that the next 60 years are as successful as the company’s first,” he added.

Hydro Assist Fuel Cell Can Cure That Pain At The Pump

Hydro Assist Fuel Cell Can Cure That Pain At The Pump

It is dirty, expensive and hard to find. It is oil, a resource which is becoming the bane of our existences. Spoiling the environment, draining America of wealth and causing distress abroad, our addiction to fossil fuels is stronger than ever. Is there an alternative? Many believe that hydro assist fuel cell cars are the answer.

A fuel cell is a device which can store large amounts of energy in a compact size. Some inventors have attempted to build a vehicle which is powered solely by fuel cells. Most often the source of this power is hydrogen. Others are attempting to improve upon today’s fossil fuel powered combustion engine by adding fuel cell technology. This is what is referred to as hydro assist technology.

This fuel cell works by extracting hydrogen from water. The hydrogen is then mixed with oxygen and the resulting mixture is than ionized utilizing electricity coming from the car’s battery. The resulting product blends with your normal gasoline greatly increasing its efficiency. Many claim that the addition of this mixture increases mileage per gallon by fifty percent.

The benefits of such technology are multifaceted. Most obvious are savings on gasoline which would accrue to all Americans. Today’s gas prices present a huge drain on the economy and have impacts far beyond what is directly felt at the pump. The increased cost of fuel is felt across the board from higher prices passed on by producers seeking to cover increased transportation and production costs.

One of the more costly externalities of our addiction to oil is the entanglements it creates overseas. To protect the free flow of oil requires great cost in terms of both money and lives. This cost is not seen at the pump, but is felt by many families across the country who must be apart from loved ones serving the country.

Fossil fuel impact upon the environment is much discussing and analyzed. There is debate over the scope and cause of global warming, however at this point a preponderance of the scientific community agrees it is happening. Continuing to burn fossil fuels is universally agreed to only worsen the problem.

Hydro assist doesn’t not fully remove the need for oil, but if anecdotal reports of 50% mileage per gallon increase is true that would go a long ways to decreasing demand. Economics dictate that reduced demand equals reduced prices. The adoption of this technology can have great impact on oil prices and serve to stem the demand coming from the developing world.

The reasons to move away from fossil fuels are compelling. The options to replace them are limited. America has always been the home of innovation. The time has come for us to hydro assist fuel cells as the next generation of vehicle technology.

Many believe that hydro assist fuel cell cars are the answer. To find out more on how you can save with gas alternatives, check out WaterFuel. You might be quite surprised.

The advantages of cars with hybrid plant

Posted on June 10th, 2008 in Automotive by shopubbblog

The advantages of cars with hybrid plant

1. Thrifty exploitation.

Thrifty exploitation is the main advantage of hybrid cars. To achieve it, it was necessary to seek a balance that is to balance all the technical indices of car, while retaining all useful parameters of traditional car, its power, speed, ability to rapid acceleration and many other very important characteristics embodied in modern cars. Moreover the ability to accumulate energy including not to waste kinetic energy of motion during braking, to charge the batteries in addition to the basic obvious advantages, brought some side-car small joy. For example less wear and tear of brake pads.

The way to savings:
- declining volume and engine power;
- engine’s work in optimal and equal treatment to a lesser depending on driving conditions;
- full stop of the engine when its necessary;
- the possibility of motion only using electric motors;
- regenerative braking to the battery charging.

This system is so difficult that is made possible only in modern conditions, using fairly complex algorithms of onboard computer work. Even the correct and effective (in terms of security) braking is controlled by onboard computer.

2. Pollution-free.

Reducing consumption of hydrocarbon fuels immediately impact on environmental purity. Full engine stop in the cars crowding places on the roads of cities, particularly in traffic jams, has the primary role. Applying the batteries much less capacity than in electric vehicles reduced the problem of disposal of used batteries. The development of hybrid technology in public transport and for trucks will further improve the ecological environment of cities.

3. Good rolling characteristics.

Now there is no need to install the engine in peak rate of exploitation. At a time when you need a sharp strengthening of the traction load electric and the usual engine (and in some models an additional electric motor also) both are included in the work at the same time. This helps to save on the installation of less powerful internal combustion engine operating in the most favorable mode. Such a transfer and stockpiling of power followed by rapid use allows the use of hybrid cars of sport class and off-roadsters. Despite the fact that electric motors have a strong enough torque in terms of weight and dimensions of the engine compared to other engines the developers still in a number of models do not set too powerful electric motors reducing their size. In summation capacity aims it applying combined torque transfer schemes with direct mechanical torque transfer directly from the engine. Such a scheme called “joint hybrid-drive”.

4. Mileage range increasing.

Time is the most valuable resource for humans. Excluding a half trips to the gas stations and even larger number of such trips while driving through the city a car frees up some time for other big and important cases.

5. The preservation and reuse of energy
The main drawback engine on hydrocarbon fuels eliminated. It’s the inability to return power back into hydrocarbon fuels. Transport engineers tried to save energy during braking motion for its reuse. For example special constructions with a large flywheel were used. But only electric power is possible to save with the most minimal casualties. Batteries and special capacitors are used as storage.

6. Regular fuel

Electric cars have one big drawback. It’s the need to charge the battery. The process is long lasting and requires a specially charge equipped item. Thus it becomes unfit for long-term and long-distance travel. But it’s already developed technologies to charge the lithium-ion batteries with electrodes up to 80% capacity for 5-15 minutes.

A hybrid car repaired that shortcoming. Filling is carried out on the customary pattern with conventional hydrocarbon fuel when necessary and further movement can be continued immediately.

In the urban cycle hybrid car works in electric mode 80% of the time. In February 2006 motorists from the U.S. were able to hack an electronic management system of Toyota Prius and learned to forcibly change the mode of car to electric. French company PSA Peugeot Citroen will begin serial production of hybrid versions of Peugeot 307 and Citroen C4 by 2010. Only electric motor works in hybrid cars at speeds less than 50 m / h. The driver may turn on electric mode at any time.
