The Many Sides of Reggaeton

Reggaeton is a style of music which began during the early 1980’s with a few pioneering artists. However, it was not until the 1990’s that the Reggaeton style took root and from that time onward it has continued to grow in popularity and flourish. Currently there are dozens of known Reggaeton artists and the number continues to grow.

Reggaeton is Spanish music which draws it’s influence mainly from Jamaican Reggae music; as the name ‘Reggae’ton suggests. Reggaeton instrumentals are a fusion of Reggae and Spanish music. Reggaeton has masterfully blended Spanish music and Reggae music to create a unique sound. The influence of Hip Hop and Rap can also be seen and heard in Reggaeton music. Despite the heavy influences of Jamaican Reggae and American Rap/Hip Hop (both of which are overwhelmingly sung in English), Reggaeton’s lyrical content is most frequently delivered in Spanish.

Within the genre of Reggaeton, the style of musical delivery and also the rhythm patterns vary greatly. As mentioned earlier, Reggaeton is heavily influenced by Reggae music, Spanish music and also by American Rap music. These multiple multiple musical influences on the genre can be seen in the fact that some Reggaeton artists’ style could most accurately be described as Rap whereas other artists’ style could be described as most closely resembling Reggae. All About The Starcraft Mods

StarCraft is a military science fiction video game that came on the market in 1998 from Blizzard Entertainment. It has become one of the best-selling computer games with more than 9 million copies sold throughout the world. It is regarded as one of the best games of all times and raised the bar for the development of future video games. Based on the success of this game Starcraft mods have also been developed, by hackers who want to cash in on this success and make money on their own.

Many of the custom modifications you get when you purchase the StarCraft game use the same editor. However, with some of the newer games you have to make a few custom hacks changes to be able to get around the restrictions of the existing editor. Some of the mod creators even record their own sound effects and voices, but for the most part they still exhibit the same polished integrated structure as the original game. This is because it is relatively easy to break the balancing and produce artwork that fits in with the Blizzard creations.

There are custom mods for the StarCraft game that do have changes made in the programming. This gives these mods their own unique take on the game. Hackers that create these mods can adapt the StarCratft files and have different sounds and graphics. Some of the mods are even more intense than the original game providing for single players. Others have made extensive changes to the sound and graphics and even the action of the game itself.

There are many different mods of the StaraCraft game, some of which vary little from the original. They include:
- Aliens vs. Predator: Retribution TC - this is a German speaking version of the game with total conversion
- Brutkrieg.de’s TC pack - This German version of the game features a collection of homemade add-on packs and TC’s. They are bundled together and sold as one package.
- Gundam Century - This was originally called GundamCraft that replaced the StarCraft graphics with the manga mecha characters of Gundam and their robotic vehicles. The game also replaced two of the StarCraft races - Federation replaced Terrans and Neo Zion replaced Protoss. The site was shut down for a while, but is now live again. However production of new mods has not resumed.
- NeoTech - This mod features an upgrade to all the Terran forces with most of the units replaced by units that look more spectacular.
- Open Rebellion - This is a total conversion of the Brood War that very closely resembles the original version.
- Robotech: Enemy Frontier - This is a total conversion of the Robotech game of the 1980’s.
- StarCraft Sickel Add-On - This is a fan built extension kit for the Brood War game. It adds to the existing line of units and allows for the addition of new units. There are two new Terran tanks, a new Zerg unit and several capital classes of Protoss.
- StarCraft Team Fortress - This mod totally changes the game so that it is somewhat like the Half-Life Team Fortress.

Preparing Chaine Turns For Ballet Dancing In Pointe Shoes

Chaine turns are best perfected in soft shoes first. Every would-be ballerina wants to excel at turns on pointe. But pointe work depends on the accuracy of your ballet teacher, your basic classical ballet training, and the accuracy of your own class work. And the ballet positions for chainee turns are very simple.

Beginning at the barre, your postural plumb line, turnout and general placement must be correct and strong. It doesn’t matter what kind of body you have. Posture can be correct, turnout can be held regardless of your flexibility, and placement can also be correct. I’m just saying that to encourage you. I know it is discouraging if others can do ballet more easily than you. If you are not flexible enough to get the legs extended above 90 degrees without losing placement, you do your best, and work on gaining strength so that you are not straining.

You see once you get on pointe, any tiny incorrect position is going to throw you off your pointe. You can struggle and overcome that, but you will lose your grace and elegance.

For chaine turns, rise onto demi pointe in first position, sideways to a mirror. If you are standing straight, neutral pelvis, neutral spine, and turnout held, that’s a good position.

Can you turn your head to the mirror to see yourself without tilting? If not, you need to do some stretching and relaxing for your neck muscles. You do this by tilting your head slowly, letting the muscles stretch a little, for three deep breaths, and then slowly bringing your head upright. 3 times 3 times a day, each side. Also, take a deep breath and then turn your head to one side, exhaling. Then try to turn a little farther, being careful not to tilt. Slowly bring it back to the front, and do the other side. 3 times, 3 times a day. Relaxing your neck is going to help with your spotting.

Being weak in your posture or turnout is going to make you tense your neck and shoulders, therefore throwing off a good turn.

Once you have established that your posture is good, and your turnout held, do a series of chaine turns along the barre, keeping your legs tight in first position. You do not step out. Practice this until you get the feel of it. This establishes correct muscle memory.

When you do the turns in the center your preparation will give you the push to get started. If you chassee into it, or step out from a plie, you then close the legs and they do not come apart at all after that.

There is always ongoing discussion of when someone should start ballet in pointe shoes. Regardless of age, ballet history or growth plates, your basic technique has to be strong, not just your feet. If you have to wait another six months or a year to correct your technique, you will enjoy pointe work a lot more once you start, because you will be able to do things. You won’t be struggling.

Once in pointe shoes, chaine turns are a lot easier, as far as the turn goes. It’s easy to spin. But your position and how well it is held will determine whether or not you can stay in a straight line, control the speed, and end the sequence gracefully.

Watch your favorite ballerina do chaine turns - they are tight, quick, and end quickly. You’ll see how her ballet positions are perfect - and her control is perfect.
