Dennis Ritter-Eichenlaub: The Voice of a Powerful Car
More than a thousand employees from Volkswagen’s German plants excitedly anticipated the concluding event of their Scirocco Song Contest. The winner will be the newest voice to be heard in the hottest Sirocco TV commercial. According to reports, the competition was highly overwrought right up to the last seconds of the contest. It was a nail-biter moment seconds before Dennis Ritter-Eichenlaub was announced as the winner of the 2008 Scirocco Song Contest. The powered-voice Ritter-Eichenlaub took up the microphone and sang live “I wanna be free” before a cheering audience that rocked the building.
The jury’s decision was unanimous. From the beginning, they already knew that Ritter-Eichenlaub is the new voice for the new Scirocco with the greatest auto body parts. The winner showcased a powerful and dynamic performance, a voice full of mysteries and surprises. Dennis Ritter-Eichenlaub exemplifies the spirit of the new Scirocco in every respect of its auto body parts.
“You can literally feel the excitement about the Scirocco. That resoundingly confirms our Scirocco Song Contest has very successfully broken new ground as far as communication is concerned,” says Stephan Gr?hsem, Head of Volkswagen Group Communications and also a member of the panelists.
The judges’ impression was deep-rooted when the audience consisting of more than a thousand employees started to jam as winner Dennis Ritter-Eichenlaub walked onto the stage to sing “I wanna be free”. Also, jury member Jochen Sengpiehl, Head of Marketing at the Volkswagen brand, is highly persuaded that the song will generate the flame with customers, too.
“Dennis Ritter-Eichenlaub, the Scirocco and our commercial go really well together,” says Sengpiehl.
“This is a marvelous opportunity and I’m so grateful. I’ll give everything I’ve got to make my voice right for the Scirocco,” explains the 34-year old Ritter-Eichenlaub who works as a mechanic in Technical Development at the Wolfsburg plant.
“We all found the decision really tough,” says Leslie Mandoki on behalf of the other jury members. It was a hard struggle before we finally decided on Dennis. The talent at VW is amazing, the candidates must enjoy what they’re doing; they need to be expressive and mustn’t allow their attention to wander when they’re on the stage.”
Sengpiehl was full of praise: “All the finalists obviously have talent and most also have experience singing, but the contest nevertheless demanded a great deal of courage.” Gr?hsem added: “Every Volkswagen employee had the opportunity to prove themselves in an unusual way during the Scirocco Song Contest. We’d like to thank everyone for taking part.”
